The First Step to Creating the Life You Desire

I’m not a “woo woo” coach. I’m more of a “woo” coach.
-Kierra Jones

I heard an amazing coach I follow say this the other day and I loved it, because this is how I see myself.

I have stayed away from discussing alignment for a LONG time (even though it is the first step to creating the life you desire) because 1) Most people I knew didn't know what it was and 2) I was afraid the word made me sound “woo woo.”

But it’s NOT a woo woo word. It is the opposite of woo woo,

It’s not unconventional ,but VERY conventional and necessary to those who are living their best life.

It’s a real thing and it’s important to your mental and physical health, your self-esteem, your happiness, and your quality of life.

What is alignment?

Alignment is when our thoughts, our choices, our actions all fall in line with our core values.

It's the state in which we can be our true selves.

Where we feel:

  • Good

  • In place

  • “On” instead of off

  • Calm

  • At ease

  • Centered

It’s when things make sense.

Why is it important?

Our brains want us to be in alignment.

So if we are thinking negative thoughts, negative actions will usually follow, and vice versa.

If we think one thing, and do the opposite, we experience mental discomfort.

That’s because our brains want things to make sense.

It wants to achieve a harmony between our thoughts and our actions, It's also wants our beliefs and our actions to line up as well.

We will experience discomfort and a disconnection from our true selves when we do things that contradict our beliefs.

For example:

- If I believe that being active and eating healthy is important, but I'm not active or choosing to eat poorly, my brain (and body) is going to be uncomfortable with this. If my actions don't align to fix it, I'm going to experience sadness, discomfort, a lack of confidence,... until I begin to do things that align with my belief.

- If I value creativity, but spend my day working at a job that provides me no opportunity to be creative and I have very little time at home to be creative, I'm going to be unhappy, maybe even miserable.

I won’t feel “right” or at peace until I get aligned.

And neither will you.

Why you should get aligned:

Being very aware of your values and beliefs is necessary to direct your life in the way you want most. You CAN create the life you desire, but first- you need to make sense of it all.

Who are you? What do you want out of life? Who do you need to be to achieve those things?

If you don’t know, and you aren’t checking in regularly, your path will be long and extra challenging. Why would you want to make it EXTRA challenging?

Not being in alignment causes us to self-sabotage.

If you don’t know what you want and who you need to be to achieve it, how will you check your negative thoughts? How will you know they’re negative? And how will you correct them?

Imagine experiencing a life where you AND your work, your projects, and the people you choose to go through it with you all line up.

That’s what being in alignment feels like.

This doesn’t mean we don’t ever experience anger, fear, frustration, or sadness again. But when you are in alignment, you can better handle these things.

And that, my dear friends, is how you begin to create the life YOU desire.
