Happy F%$&ing New Year!

Updated: Jan 11, 2022

I’m writing this from my bed today, having tested positive for COVID-19 on the 1st of January and calling the ambulance to take my mom to the hospital two days prior due to pneumonia. Three out of four people in my home are now positive with COVID-19, and my first thought was, Happy F%$&ing New Year!

If you had asked me a few days ago how things were going, I would have answered, “GREAT!” I was ahead of my plans that I intended to start after the new year, and I was feeling really good about all the wonderful things that have happened in my life and all the wonderful things that are going to happen.

But unlike in the past, that frustrated, defeated thought did not hang around for long.

I am no longer thrown off by an obstacle, a delay, or whatever you want to call this surprise in circumstances. I know things happen over time. Sometimes in less time than expected, sometimes in a lot more.

I am no longer in a rush to do anything- to lose weight, to build my business, to reach all my goals, because to be honest- there is no longer an “end” result.

I will not be done when I reach a certain weight. My goal is not a number on the scale, but a lifestyle change.

I will not be done when I’ve made a certain amount of money. My goal is to keep growing, to keep serving, to keep giving while I earn a living doing what I was put here to do.

I will not be done when the kids graduate from school. Or when my husband retires. Or when the kids have careers and families of their own. My goal is to always live a full life with those that I love.

I am on a journey. A journey that requires living in my power and creating the life that I desire.

In life, like in art, when you make a mistake or something unexpected happens, you have an opportunity to let it be a blot in your memory or you can turn it into something beautiful, something beautiful that was unplanned, but still beautiful. I'm using this "positive" result as an opportunity to slow down even more, do some extra recharging, and to spend even more time focusing on the people and things that I love.

If you are on a journey to live in your power and create the life you want, I invite you to join me, share your story, learn from my mistakes, and grow into the person you have always known you were meant to be.

So Happy F%$&ing New Year! It's going to be a GREAT one!
